Dear Professors, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

Good morning!

I am kitty Lo, the chairman of Finet Group Ltd. My company is listed in Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and our main business is in news media, financial information contents provider, financial public relations, asset management and stock broking. Today, it’s my great honor to have the chance to make a speech in my school, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Actually, I was graduated from Poly U in 1981. At that time, it was a very young and energetic college. However after 30 years, it had grown and become one of the most famous universities in the world with a lot of energy and dynamism which is driving the growth of our economy of Hong Kong.  I am very proud of the development and achievement our school had made in these years.

Along this path, Hong Kong is also growing into an important financial center in the world. We are running the most successful stock exchange in the world, HK Stock Exchange.  We have the highest fund raising ability in IPO “Initial Public Offering” activities in 2015 and continue to be the Number One in 2016. We have raised more than 260 Billion of dollar in 2016 which is 110 Billion more than the fund raised in NY Stock Exchange.  How could we not be proud of ourselves?   You may ask: how could we do that. 

Obviously the answer is: We have talented people, we have best practice system, we have good legal environment, we have international business environment , we have global view, amble, efficient financial information and perfectly built financial infrastructures.   All these features are built on our highly educated and knowledgeable economy and our open economy that H K is adopting.

To sustain our wish to become one of the most successful financial centers in the world, Hong Kong has to remain resilient, determined and innovative and dynamic in financial products.  We must make use of the advanced technology in the handling digital financial information and benefit ourselves from the use of Big Data Bank.    I can see the challenges emerged from the use of financial information in our financial world.  If anyone who has the most data in their data bank, the one will be the winner in every sector in the world.  It works not just in business world but also in every sector in the world

Today, the new China has become one of the most dynamic and creative societies. Hong Kong has been playing an important role in the development process of the growth in china.  Poly U has a strong global connection with many world renowned universities and through this network Poly U has successfully made its educational and research development across many countries in the world and subsequently enhanced the academic and cultural exchanges around the world.

As one of the member of our alumni, I am very happy to make some contribution to    make our University to have more achievement in the future. So, today I bring our company’s core asset, our 19 years data base of all the financial information of Hong Kong Listed Companies, to our university and contribute tour students and professors the unlimited use of information in our past, current and future data base that we have built and going to build for their research work. I always think I have a mission to help the society, but, cannot find a direct way until now. I am now fortunate enough to pay back to our school. 

Our data base is rated as one of the most accurate and comprehensive information data bank in Hong Kong and has been employed by many financial institutes and financial information portal in China , such as Tencent, Sina, I-feng, Sohu, Bank of China, Guotai Junan, and Hong Kong.  Our mission is to provide accurate and useful information for stock analyst, researchers and investors for financial modeling and investment purposes.  But I am not content with what we have, I wanted to benefit more people. I hope our Data Base can help the growth of Hong Kong economy through the ability of Poly University who can unleash the power and value of our data base and provide more financial data for training up accounting and finance talents, like accountants and auditors 

As we all known, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect will officially begin on Dec 5th, which is an exciting opportunity for the participants of our stock market and , more and more investors from China have shown their keen interests in the stock in Hong Kong.. Our data base will serve our investors to their best interests in this opportunity. As one of a few largest financial data providers, our responsibility is to  provide accurate, up-to-date transparent financial data and information for all investors.  I believe through the cooperation with Poly U, our research team can come up with more constructive ideas and solutions for the enhancement of our financial products and increase the interests of investors on the employment financial modelling, information and advice.  That will make our investors smarter.  If you lose information, you will lose money!    Don’t you all agree with me !

Finet welcome all Poly U students, we will provide internship and even job positions for them. I believe we will enjoy our relationship with Poly U , and will foster more and more other academic cooperation across other field.

Hopefully, the database provided by us will help our professors and student achieve more outstanding academic research achievement and finally contribute to the economic and social development of our world.
